Week 10: Events Manager Update

Versions of villanelles with varying verbs, vowels and voices have come pouring in this week for the Online Villanelle Competition. Unfortunately it’s now closed – but you can read each entry as it appears here on the blog (and comment if you so please!). Keep your eye out for the winner, who will be announced in August.

Other poetry-related activities include podcasts with our July poets. You can listen to John Mateer, Caroline Caddy, J.P. Quinton, Emma Rooksby, Scott-Patrick Mitchell and Tracy Ryan by going to our YouTube site. Look out for each podcast as it’s released in the next week. Here’s Scott-Patrick Mitchell reading 'instructions for soothsaying' and discussing codes in language and the importance of maintaining the vitality of contemporary poetry.

The winner of last week’s giveaway was Jeremy Balius, who said that if he was stranded on a desert island he’d recite Edmund Spenser’s ‘The Faerie Queene’ (all of it!) to stay sane. Jeremy wins a copy of New Poets. For your chance to win in this week’s giveaway, tell us about the poetry on your shelves.
