Among the Chosen: the life story of Pat Giles by Lekkie Hopkins and Lynn Roarty was launched at the Women’s College at Sydney University on 30 April 2010.
Professor Marian Baird of the Women and Work Research Centre at Sydney University hosted the launch.
“This book is a page turner and should be on the shelves of every airport bookshop in the country,” Professor Baird said.
Author Lekkie Hopkins thanked many people for helping to bring the book together, most especially Pat Giles for her cooperation, kindness and years of activism.
Fiona Giles, Pat Giles’ daughter and an academic in Media and Communications at Sydney University, gave a speech reflecting on the public life of her mother.
Guests included a significant group from the Labour History Conference, held at the Women’s College that day.
