SNEAK PEEK: Storylines 2011

Kris Williams, All Saints’ College Literature Festival Coordinator, lets us peep through the curtain at the exciting line-up for the 2011 Storylines Festival.

“2011 will be the tenth anniversary of Storylines, the annual All Saints’ College Literature Festival. We will be bringing back a number of presenters who were on the very first program in 2002: Krista Bell, Brigid Lowry, who is moving back to WA next year, and Julia Lawrinson (pictured) to name a few. One of the surprise hits of the Festival over the years was Barry Heard who spoke about his Vietnam experience. We are really looking forward to having him back again in 2011.

“There will be some very entertaining Meet-the-Author Sessions with singing, joke telling and gold medals on display. Storytellers for all ages will entertain with costumes, string characters and scary stories. Black Swan Theatre, Buzz Dance Company as well as writers and illustrators will present workshops throughout the three days of the Festival.

“There are so many presenters that I am looking forward to seeing at the 2011 Festival: Norman Jorgensen (pictured), Alison Lester and Felice Arena to name a few.
In WA alone we have such a wonderful community of writers and illustrators for children and young adults. From this local talent we will be presenting some first-time authors like Deb Fitzpatrick, Michael Thompson and Shirley Marr together with some well known favourites like Frane Lessac, Kate McCaffrey, Sally Carbon, poet Scott-Patrick Mitchell, Meg McKinlay, Rebecca Cool and many more.”

Storylines runs from 6-8 April 2011 at All Saints College, Bull Creek.
