Week 2: Events Manager Update

This week we’ve asked you to think about the different places poetry turns up: in song lyrics, on blogs and even social networking sites.

By telling us your favourite song lyric you can win a free copy of Beautiful Waste: Poems by David McComb! Comment on either the Facebook page or blog post to win. Then, check out the interview with editors of this volume, Chris Coughran and Niall Lucy, where they discuss the poetic work of a lyricist.

Tomorrow on the blog, Fremantle Press Poetry Publisher Georgia Richter answers the question ‘Why do books of poetry matter?’ – even in the digital age.

My favourite lyrics happen to be from a very okld song called Secret Love sung by Doris Day. They pull at my heart strings with a wistful yearning

  2. I like that too, but my favourite would be 'If' by Bread: "If a picture paints a thousand words, then why can't I paint you?"

  3. My favourite lyrics are by Leonard Cohen - so many - but especially these:

"Ring the bells that still can ring
    Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in."
