GIVEAWAY: Choose your poetry heavyweights

The World Wrestling Federation is holding a Poetry Slam - and you've been asked to choose an all-star cast of three Aussie poets to perform. Which heavyweights do you choose?

Comment by Monday 21 June to tell us your line-up of poets, and you could win four (4) poetry collections from internationally renowned poet John Kinsella.

  1. tough one! can i send a WA specific contingent that would include ALLAN BOYD (current slam organiser & old skool '90s performance poet), BYRON BARD (local comedic performance poet and finalist in the nationals last year), and GABBY EVERALL (just because she's amazing).

    all homegrown & local.

  2. I've going to suggest: Les Murray, Clive James and Joe Dolce would make for a very entertaining performance.

  3. Can we bring back the dead? I'm going for an all female line-up and would love to have Gwen Harwood perform her work (impossible, I know)accompanied by Emma Lew, one of my favourite poets, and WA's own Sarah French.

  4. Having had the good fortune to see John Kinsella in action, I'd have to include him for his dynamisn and commitment to the performance. In addition, Pi O, for sheer style, and, because I admire her ability as a poet, and for her commitment to communicating her love of poetry to others, Judith Beveridge.

  5. Melbourne-centric I know, but I have to get in on this one. REALLY tough, but I'd nominate the pure-breed-Slam-Samurai: Emilie Zoey Baker, Sean M Whelan and Geoff Lemon

  6. the fearsome threesome: Miles Merrill, Emily XYZ, PiO

  7. I'd go for WA poets: John Kinsella, Viv Glance (past Slam winner) and Andrew Burke.

  9. Wrestling is all staged. If it were the World Thought Provoking Federation (WA), I would choose Kevin Gillam, Annamaria Weldon and Cecily Scutt.
